SPE 521 - Methods II: Functional Life Skills for Exceptional Individuals Credit Hours: 4 This course emphasizes the application of theoretical frameworks and evidence-based instructional methods for students with disabilities. Students will engage in instructional planning aligned with individualized needs, analyze data with a primary focus on social communication skills and planning for executive functioning deficits. Course content includes specialized instructional strategies within content area specialties, functional life skill curriculums, and promotes meaningful inclusion in academics, community, and vocational settings. Students will also explore transition processes, including career education and readiness, to support successful postsecondary outcomes. May be taught concurrently with SPE 621. Cannot receive credit for both SPE 521 and SPE 621.
