SPE 345 - Educational Evaluation of Exceptional Individuals Credit Hours: 4 This course emphasizes mastery of psychometric principles and the use of performance-based data to guide diagnostic and prescriptive teaching. Federal and state guidelines for multidisciplinary evaluation are examined, with attention to procedures that ensure compliance and best practice. Students will learn to assess diverse learners, including individuals with disabilities and those from varied cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds. Content includes both formal and informal assessment approaches commonly used in special education, such as task and error analysis, observation, norm-referenced testing, curriculum-based assessment, and curriculum-based measurement.
Prerequisite: SPE 310 ; and concurrent enrollment in SPE 346 ; and admitted to Teacher Education. Corequisite: SPE 346 Lecture contact hours: 4
