REL 358 - Yoga and Meditation Credit Hours: 3 An examination of the history, philosophy, and practice of various yoga and meditation traditions from India and China. Emphasis will be given to Hindu, Buddhist, and Daoist systems that were developed for mental concentration, spiritual liberation, and immortality, among other religious aims. After surveying the development of yoga and meditation in Asia, the course will explore their uses in popular culture and health care in modern American society.
