REL 378 - Religion and Healing in Modern America Credit Hours: 3 An exploration of the relationship between folk, faith and biomedical healing, the course is a cross-cultural exploration of the story of religion and healing in America from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present. Using a chronological approach, students will examine historical interactions between a diversity of health-related worldviews and religious worldviews, from Pentecostalism to immigrant faiths, scientific challenges as well as alternative healing, African-American and also women’s traditions, divine healing and the traditions of world religions in modern America.
