IPE 470 - Foundations of Patient Safety for Health Professionals Credit Hours: 3 This course provides a foundation for patient safety and health care quality improvement for students in the health professions with an emphasis on the roles of both individuals and systems. Topics include: the scope of the problem, terminology and basic concepts of safety systems, patient safety interventions, measuring and reporting safety, incident investigations, institutional responses to adverse events, communication and teamwork, and models to improve patient safety.
