HST 417 - Methods of Teaching Secondary Social Studies I Credit Hours: 3 This course introduces students to the theory and methods of teaching social studies on the secondary level in a diverse society. Course topics include the history of the social studies; application of disciplinary thinking to instructional planning; culturally responsive teaching in the social studies classroom; teaching social studies through inquiry; aligning standards, objectives, and instruction; and assessment, student data, and data-based decision making in the social studies classroom.
