GRY 510 - Applications in Sustainable Geotourism Credit Hours: 3 This course will introduce some of the key concepts and methods used to investigate and make sense of the role, significance and impact of tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place–its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents. Students will explore environmentally and socially responsible tourism strategies and innovations, and study issues associated with tourism development. Students will work to develop tourism policy and plans based on geotourism parameters where ideas may be applied in a practicum to a local, regional or national community. May be taught concurrently with GRY 610. Cannot receive credit for both GRY 510 and GRY 610.
