ELE 530 - Teaching Multilingual Learners in the Elementary Classroom Credit Hours: 2 Focuses on state and federal mandates for educating multilingual learners in U.S. public schools. Introduces the fundamentals of second language acquisition and instructed academic language learning. Emphasis on current, standards-based approaches to teaching multilingual learners in the regular elementary classroom through differentiation and sheltered instruction of grade-level content.
Prerequisite: B grade or better in ELE 429 and ELE 434 and ELE 438 and LTC 420 and LTC 421 . Lecture contact hours: 2
