Family and Consumer Sciences Requirements

A minimum of 3 hours of course work must be in Family and Consumer Sciences courses numbered 700 or above.

Family and Consumer Sciences Credit Hours: 15

Accelerated Master’s Degree Option

Eligible undergraduate BSEd majors in Family and Consumer Sciences may apply for early admission to the Master of Science in Education in Family and Consumer Sciences. Once accepted for early admission, students will be able to take up to twelve (12) hours of professional education courses or Family and Consumer Sciences content courses at the 600- or 700-level that apply to both their undergraduate and graduate programs. Before enrolling in courses to be counted for both undergraduate and graduate credit, an undergraduate student must be accepted into the accelerated master’s program option AND receive prior approval from the Teaching, Learning and Developmental Sciences School Director , Family and Consumer Sciences MSED Program Coordinator and the Graduate College (on a Mixed Credit form). The student must complete their BSEd Family and Consumer Sciences program and receive Missouri certification in Family and Consumer Sciences (K-12) to continue in the MSEd Family and Consumer Sciences program beyond the twelve (12) hours earned through the accelerated master’s program option.

Accelerated Admission Requirements

  1. Junior standing, with an overall GPA of 3.25.
  2. Major in BSEd Family and Consumer Sciences.
  3. Recommendation by a faculty member in the School of Teaching, Learning and Developmental Sciences.
