Exercise and Movement Science (Comprehensive) (BS)

Admission requirements

Satisfaction of the following minimum criteria is required for admission to the program:

  1. A valid ACT score on file if required by the University for admission purposes.
  2. A combined (Missouri State and transfer) GPA of 2.50 or higher.
  3. Completion of COM 115  with a grade of “C” or higher, or concurrent enrollment in COM 115 .
  4. Completion of at least 30 credit hours.

Note: 14 hours may be double counted toward General Education requirements.

Complete one of the following options:


Students selecting the Pre-Professional option

should meet with an advisor to determine the most appropriate course selection. Those preparing for possible selection into a physician assistant program should take both CHM 170  and CHM 171 , and both CHM 352  and CHM 353 . Students preparing for clinical science should take BMS 307  and BMS 308  for the anatomy and physiology requirement.

Additional requirements:


  1. Students must pass the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist Exam, or the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Exam, or score at least at the 70th percentile on a major field achievement exam.
  2. Students must pass a drug test and a background check to participate in required field experiences in clinical settings, in the workplace, and/or in schools.
  3. Student certification in first aid and CPR must be documented and maintained throughout the program.
  4. Transfer credit courses must have grade of “C” or better and be from a regionally accredited college or university.
  5. A combined (Missouri State and transfer) GPA of 2.50 or higher and a grade of “C” or better in all KIN courses is required for graduation.

Total Credit Hours: 77-89
