Program Description - BS-DNAP
The Missouri State University School of Anesthesia is a 36 month on Campus program that provides the scientific foundation and clinical training that prepares anesthesia providers as certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) at the clinical doctorate level.
Program Accreditation
The Missouri State University School of Anesthesia is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, the official accrediting agency for nurse anesthetists. Admission Requirements
RN-DNAP (BS-DNAP)
Full time 36 month program
Selection for final admission decisions will be based on the following criteria:
- Submission of an application online: https://www.missouristate.edu/FutureStudents/graduate-application.htm. (See FAQ’s for application deadline).
- A bachelor’s degree in an area of life science, nursing, or chemistry from an accredited institution recognized in the U.S.;
- Undergraduate course work in the following courses with a minimum grade of “C”.
- Human Anatomy minimum of 3 credit hours.
- Human Physiology minimum of 3 credit hours (*Combined A&P courses must be a minimum of 6 credits total).
- General or Inorganic Chemistry minimum of 3 credit hours.
- Microbiology minimum of 3 credit hours.
- Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry or ANE 604, Preparing for Anesthesia School.

4. A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 hours of academic coursework. Emphasis is placed on science courses.
5. Current unencumbered Registered Nursing license in the U.S.
6. A minimum of one year acute care experience at the time of matriculation. See FAQ’s for definition of acute care.
7. CCRN exam completion or submission of Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
Complete applications will be reviewed, and a select number of applicants will be invited for a personal interview with the Interview Committee. Interviews are scheduled within 3 months of the application deadline.
Candidates who are interviewed and offered a seat in the program cohort, are required to pay a non-refundable confirmation deposit to hold a seat in the cohort. The fee is required to be paid to Missouri State University and is credited to the first semester’s tuition.
Final admission is dependent on all candidates passing a criminal background check and a drug screen prior to beginning any course work.
Admission to the RN to DNAP Program is competitive; not all that apply will be granted an interview or admitted. Students who are not accepted may apply for the next application cycle.
Program Description MS-DNAP
The Missouri State University School of Anesthesia MS-DNAP is an online 12-to-36 month program that advances Masters Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) to the Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice 9DNAP) level.
CRNA-DNAP (MS-DNAP)
Students who have already completed the CRNA certification at the Master’s level, can be admitted into the completion post masters program, requiring 27 hours to complete. The hours are completed via distance education and can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis.

- Unencumbered RN License valid in the U.S.
- Masters’ degree transcripts from a University recognized by the Department of Education
