Program Description
The Gifted Education Graduate Certificate provides a 15-hour graduate-level experience for educators, administrators, or curriculum advocates to meet the unique needs of gifted learners. The program emphasizes equitable identification practices, support for students’ affective development, the design of rigorous and differentiated instruction, and the evaluation of access to advanced learning opportunities. Courses are offered in an accelerated 8-week format, allowing students to focus deeply on one topic at a time while balancing professional responsibilities. The certificate can be completed in just three semesters - fall, spring, summer - and coursework may also be applied toward a master’s or doctoral degree in education.
Admission Criteria
To be considered for the program, a student must have a 3.00 grade point average. Students who do not meet the normal admission requirements, but who provide evidence of outstanding potential, will be considered for probationary admission. Probationary conditions will be defined by the graduate program faculty. Students in an Accelerated Master’s, MSEd, EdS, or a doctoral program are encouraged to consider this certificate program. Admission to the certificate program does not constitute admission to any other Missouri State University graduate program.
