One course from the following. ENG 551 may not be taken to satisfy both this requirement and the upper-division creative writing electives requirement. Pre-1800 requirement:
at least three of the 36 hours taken in the English major must be a pre-1800 literature course: Minor required (or second major).
Complete one of the following options:
Creative Writing option (15 hours):
Introductory Creative Writing:
one course from Intermediate Creative Writing:
one course from Advanced Creative Writing:
one course from Upper-division Creative Writing electives:
Two additional courses from following. A course selected may be the same as the Advanced Creative Writing requirement selection if the student is repeating the course for additional credit. ENG 551 may not be taken to satisfy both this requirement and the public affairs capstone requirement. Literature option (15 hours):
Additional American Literature (3 hours):
one course from following. May not be double-counted from the American Literature core requirement. Additional British Literature (3 hours):
one course from following. May not be double-counted from the British Literature major core requirement. Specialized Approaches (3 hours):
one course from Electives (6 hours):
choose two ENG electives, at least one of which must be a 400 or 500 level literature course. Accelerated graduate program in English-Literature Track Only
