KIN 625 - Diversity and Culture in Sport Credit Hours: 3
In this course, the context of relationships, issues, and trends in a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse society are explored. The focus is on theories of identity development in multiple domains, multicultural competencies, cultural humility, and doing the inner work necessary to engage in meaningful work with clients of diverse identities and experiences. Additional topics covered in the course include the nature of biases, prejudices, oppression, discrimination, acculturation, privilege, and their effects on the physical and mental health of individuals and communities. May be taught concurrently with KIN 425. Cannot receive credit for both KIN 425 and KIN 625.
