BMS 317 - Medical Microbiology Credit Hours: 3 This course focuses on human microbial pathogens including viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and parasites. Emphasis will be placed on structure and characteristics of the classes of microbes, host-microbial interaction, mechanisms and routes of transmission, antibiotic resistance, and pathogenesis. Microbial isolation and culturing, identification, and differential/clinical assays will be studied in the laboratory portion of the course.
Prerequisite: C- grade or better in BMS 231 , or BMS 230 and BMS 232 , or BIO 235 and BIO 236 ; and C- grade or better in CHM 116 and CHM 117 , or CHM 160 and CHM 161 . Lecture contact hours: 2 Lab contact hours: 2
