EDC 350 - Sociocultural Foundations of Education


Credit Hours: 3
This course provides students with a broad, general understanding of the historical and cultural development of schooling in society, the purposes and goals of education, sociocultural and sociopolitical issues in education, and how educational systems and teacher preparation compares to other countries from a sociocultural context. This course is an introduction to education from a sociocultural context. May be taught concurrently with EDC 250. Cannot receive credit for both EDC 250 and EDC 350.

Prerequisite: admitted to Teacher Education or concurrent enrollment in EDC 150
